So, apparently my radio fixed itself while I had it unplugged for a week during the gauge panel 3.0 project, but I had already made my decision on what I wanted for a replacement. My girlfriend surprised me big time by driving down from NY on my birthday and buying me a new head unit with Bluetooth

Pulled out the whole panel and buffed out some of the scratches that were bothering me and then wired up the new head unit.

The Bluetooth capabilities are pretty kick ass. It has an external mic for phones calls, which is crystal clear according to evryone I called.lol. I can skip tracks and everything using the radio or phone. Auto connects to my phone after initial setup.

Its a little bright even on the dim setting, but the colors are infinitely variable (still tweaking those in)

I ran across an AGR Super Pump on clearance and jumped on it, then after a little diffing around…I relised I would rather spend a few more pennies on a PSC pump that actually has upgraded internals for more flow at low RPMs.

I used the opportunity to compare the two pumps side by side though. As soon as I opened the AGR box I was glad I changed my mind and bought the PSC.lol The AGR was in a beat up, dusty box, and covered in shipping labels as if it had been returned 10 times, the packing foam was deteriated and was in the pump inlet...etc etc.

I tore down the AGR pump and found absolutly nothing different between it and a stock remaned Saginaw. Same vanes, same housing, same shims, same orifice, same everthing besides the $100 price difference...not impressed. The only thing it had over the Cardone I bought last time was that they used the nicer bushing with the oil passage and tighter shaft fit. Oh, and no magnet for catching debris

The PSC pump on the other hand uses the older style rotary group that as a few more vanes, the better input bushing, and a larger displacement housing. It also has a heavier spring to keep the internals from leaking under presssure. The releif appears to be at the same setting, but I havent checked what that is yet. (it appears to be the standard 1 shim)

Here is the difference between the PSC and everyone else...that little profile difference is what ups the flow so much.lol

Both had the nicer bushing.

I swapped the shaft out of the PSC pump with my old T bird pump so I could bolt up the horseshoe adaptor and Ford pulley. (PSC doesnt offer a pump with the long shaft or Ford bolt pattern adaptor.)

Put it all back togther, installed it, and fired the truck up.....heard a "POP" and had no flow/pressure...:( my luck.lol So I pulled it all apart and when I pulled the resi off I realized what I did. I didnt get the large snap ring on the pump seated all the way and it let the bearing plates push away from the vanes...simple fix just popped it back together and done. Its perfect now, quiet, smooth, and easy.

I also swapped back to Valvoline PS fluid VS the ATF I had been running. It has way better anti-foam characteristics. I did this back when I was trying to save the Cardone pump.

I also mounted my mic for the radio. It came with 3M tape and a cheap looking ball pivot mount.. didnt like how it looked at all. So I drilled a hole in my pillar pod and popped a grommet that it fit tight in. Looks a little more little legit IMO.

Then I gave the ole 45 a little attention.. new manifold, cast in the USA. Its heavier, denser, and much more like the original unlike the cheapo China knock-offs that leak and crack a year later. Also 3x the price.lol

And I bought some goodies.

44 HP housing. Going to narrow it, truss it, and put 4.88s or 5.13's in it. Keep it on the shelf until I grenade my LP.

Then I bought some 4.56s...so I thought. Guy said they were 8.8 4.88s...I counted the teeth and discovered they were 4.56s, but they were super cheap and brand new Richmonds..so I bought them anyway. Got home, did some more research.. they are GM 10 bolt gears..:annoyed:

FOR SALE..GM 10 Bolt 4.56:1

Damn that's a bummer about the gears! Craigslist?

Swap meet.

So that psc pump is a direct swap (mostly) for the Saginaw pump? I'm looking for an upgrade for mine.

Which Saginaw do you have? If you have one the rare T Bird pumps still (like mine) then you just have to swap the shaft and bolt on the adaptor. If you have the generic old canned ham Chebby pump, then the PSC is a direct bolt on.

I have one of both, but currently running the old ford one. I thought they were interchangeable if you took the adaptor off the Ford one and put it on the Chevy one?

The shaft is longer on the Ford one to compensate for the thickness of the adapter plate ~1"

The radio and Mic location look great........................

as for the pump............I'll take your word on it (me being pump-illiterate!)
