my dad got my trucks timing all straitened out and i went to drive it home from the shop and it ran awesome good power and everything, only thing was it idled a little high sometimes and i noticed if i revved it high while driving specially up a hill i heard like this buzzing coming from the engine almost like something rattling and i only heard it in the high rpms when nearly floored, and was half way home and all the sudden i notice it gets a tad bit louder and sorta has more deceleration pop when i let off the throttle, but still had decent power well about a couple hundred feet after that goin up a hill at about 3500 it just shut down instantly, and wont start back up, when i start it it kinda jumps around a good bit and fires for a quick seccond every once in a while it seems then thats it,i think it jumped timing is my guess were gonna look at it, but my question is what causes is to jump timing? its a nearly brand new belt, i didnt replace the tensioner when i got the belt could this be the problem? the tensionor is maybe worn causing it to jump time? any help please im trying to join the military and need my truck running ok soon, thanks for any help.

im also wandering is it possible the valve cover or timing cover could have leaked oil onto the belt causing it to jump time? other wise im still wandering if maybe a warn tensioner could do this? any help would be greatfull.

i have some bad news...we found out its the auxillary drive gear which is the gear that drives the distributor, this is the third time this truck left me on the rode, all because of pretty much the same thing, first time it ate the distributor gear up, bought a brand new distrib then it ate it again then got a brand new distrib and that gear that drives the distrib and about a year later this happends, destroyed again now i guess i gotta get a brand new distrib and that damn gear again from a junkyard, so im most likely taking this thing off the road, never had this much problems with any other vehicles accept ford and ive about had enough, thanks for anything...
