Today I finally sourced what is possibly the most annoying-to-find and most commonly lost part in the 2.9 engine bay.

Behold!
49716

The elusive throttle cable cover... Copped it off a purple ranger with swirly pinstriping.

Oddly, the engine was stripped down to the short block but no one thought to grab this, or the pile of valve cover pressure clips in the battery tray.
No other purpose to this post, just wanted to brag.

I had no idea anybody wanted that part. I've seen dozens of them... in the trash.

I know this post is a few months out - I just wanted to say - I have removed and tossed out every cable cover on any motor I have ever had. If I need to rev the motor - I am not going inside of the truck to do it. Not sure why manufacturers felt the need to make it so it's damned near impossible to reach under one so you can throttle it from under the hood without removing it.
