Ok I posted this in the wrong place so I will try again. I have a early 99 ranger 3.0 eng. The #6 cylinder blew a hole in the piston. I am ready to finish up but need to know the orientation of the bump on the rod to piston. #1 is bump to the left or towards crank every other cylinder is bump to right side. Any ideas?

Ok I had no response but found the answer. The 98-99 3.0 is a special animal as it is balanced. The key is that there is a round bump 1/2 half way up the connecting rod that designates the front of the rod and aligns to the corresponding marks on the piston cap.
