Pintoed rangers

Thank you gentlemen! I'm finding a few 2.5, 5 speed rangers out there, was the 2.5 4-cylinder a limited-run? I haven't found a whole lot about. Doing an internet search 2.5 Ford 4 cylinder, only brings up Ford ranger which kind of surprised me, was wondering what other vehicles it's in. I'll keep looking in the meantime.
The 2.5l is just a modified version of the 2.3l. It was only used for a few years. Late ‘01 they dropped the 2.5l and replaced it with the duratec 2.3l.

The 2.5 was used between the end of the lima 2.3 and the beginning of the duratech 2.3. I wanna say 98-01 but i could be wrong.

Wifes escape has a 2.5, not sure if its the same as the ranger one, its reliable, but gutless.

I can confirm 1998 had the 2.5 Lima.

I have a’94 2.3 2wd longbed, since I swapped out the rear axle from a 3.45 to a 4.10 its not so bad. I think I gave $200 for a junkyard axle with 4.10’s, a new gearset would of been that much and Id of still needed the tools to set it up right. I did replace seals and brake components before putting the “new” axle in. speedometer is off but I could probably fix that with the right speedometer drive gear, I know how far its off so I just live with it and Ive been fine. I cant check fuel milage because of that but Im sure its still doing at least 20 mpg. I changed tire sizes from 225/70/14 to 225/70/15’s, speedometer is off by 10 mph.

during all this I just found a 93, 3.0 5spd with MANUAL Tcase 5 speed LOL he isn't going to part it out though...claims the frame is good... i just may go see. But damn these trucks are old!

Your tire swap counteracted a good bit of the gear change.

Well not to let this thread go in entirely dead... I found 2003 with the 2.3 4-cylinder, regular cab, 5-speed low mileage.
I may jump on it if it's decent!

This thing has 16 valves on top???

correct. Duratec is dual over head cam.

Hmmm, good, better, best?

Agreed. Best overall performance from the 4 cylinder family.

I however will always have a soft spot for the old Lima engines. Even though they severely suck in the power department

It’s the best 4 cylinder they put in a North American Ranger before 2019.
That's a high RPM engine isn't it? like Honda and others?

What the new Ranger 4 cylinder? It’s turbocharged, it’s direct injection... it’s a strong little motor.
