Pinewood Derby Car

Help me kick around some ideas. For the old guys in my church, they're hosting a chili and derby, where there will be a chili cookoff and a pinewood derby car race. I figure I'm not going to enter the chili contest and devote all my efforts to the car. My ideas were either a first gen hard top mustang or an el camino. Or any cool old cars would be nice.

I got a 7x2 3/4/ 1 inch piece of pine to work with. I don't really care to win the race, I just want a really cool looking, unique car. the race is in like 2 and a half weeks so I have some time to think about it.

My brother did a m37 military pickup, it was cool haha

i did a jacked up crew cab f350 last year, but i had to take the back duals off to race it legally.
I think this year i'm going to try to make a superbird or a foxbody gt, or maybe a festiva.

I think you should do a chevelle ss wagon, i want to make a real one (one of the VERY FEW gms i'll drive, the rest are mostly cadillacs.)

Do something out of the box. I did a semi truck one year. It was slow as hell but it looked damn cool.

Brings back great memories of my dad and I doing this. My dad and I built a derby racer that looked like a rocket ship. We painted it white and red and used the wheels off of my wagon that had rubber and tube tires so they held air. We won the race that day and got the trophy for neatest design. I wish I could find those photos and get them posted. I am missing a lot of photos we took during our lifetime. Sometimes I find one now and then. Good luck and have fun.
