I want to make a tool to remove the pilot bearing hydraulically, I have a metal lathe at hand and plenty aluminum rod, I just don't remember the inner diameter of the pilot bearing, and it's kinda hard to get to at the moment

I'd have to find a tranny up inthe shop to measure it but according to the on-line parts catalogs the bearing has an ID of either .586" or .5901". So if you make the end of your tool .580-.585 it should work fine. Leave the end faced flat and it'll work well.

will do, not needed at this exact point, but could come in handy in the future

if 5 minutes on the lathe could save me an hour of screwing around, I'm all for it

yeah, just wish I had a bigger lathe, and a mill... the 7x10 is very useful for what it is, and for what I paid for it... but 5/16" tools are hard to find (1/4" work with shimming, but isn't optimal), and I don't have the spare $100 to get the quick change set at the moment...

Get used to that, it never ends. You will always come up with new projects that just don't quite fit on the tools at hand. That's one of the few nice things about were I'm working now. I have access to some large lathes (18x142) and mills (36x80)
