pilot bearing for M5OD

on my M5OD the starter is on the same side as the A4LD..??

hey i was also wondering if you have to use a spacer with the flywheel when you have the flywheel resurfaced because the guy i bought the tranny from had the flywheel resurfaced and he said he didnt have the spacer for it though and i dont see why that very very small amount of material that is removed when resurfacing the flywheel will make any difference.

My M5OD R-1 has the starter on the same side as on the A4LD it replaced. The separator plate is steel and about twice as thick as the aluminum one that was with the auto trans. Since the pressure plate bolts directly to the face of the flywheel there is no need for a spacer.

thank you very much for the info .. do you think the thick plate is needed??

o ok thank you.... does anyone know if i can buy one anywhere so i dont have to take a whole trans almost out to get one and just to save me alot of time at the junk yard also???

I'm sure you can buy one somewhere. There's another thread on here about a guy whos starter wont engage the starting ring on the flywheel because he had the wrong plate in there. So be sure you get the right one.

yea i read that thread that is why i was asking about it becuase i want to make sure so i get it all right the first time and not run into any problems
