A friend made me this air cleaner housing a while back. It used a GM cone style K&N filter. I'm not sure if it will look ok or not but I wanted to paint it and try it. I put some filler over the weld where the tube meets the body and started priming it to smooth it out.

Will somebody give me some feedback on this air cleaner? Over on another forum the guys general consensus is that it doesn't look good on the engine. Like it takes away from the rest of the look. Don't worry about hurting my feelings, this air cleaner has been around for a while. I just thought about using it since I already had it. The paint turned out good, but if it doesn't look right, I don't want to use it.

yeah, it doesn't "fit" with this truck. if it were a 4x4 and you were using this for a snorkel setup it would be fine, but this is a street truck. it kind of looks like your using a piece off of a stove and making it work. I would pick up one of these air cleaners since it matches the valve covers:

I don't know that it would fit with the HEI dist in front of the carb.

I think that it needs some decals on the cleaner. It looks good, has that ram air potential, but it looks too plain.

Either some decals or some nice raised aluminum lettering on the top that says "5.0" or "Ford" or some pinstriping.

Some silver lettering on that black intake would look awesome!!

Thats what somebody else had said. Like I should have some brushed aluminum stripes on the top to go with the valve covers. My main reason for the interest in using this thing is because it's custom. Nobody has one the same as it. My truck is one of a kind and I dont want my engine bay to look like everybody else's.

Maybe I'll work on coming up with something to add to it to help the look out a little. Of course, any suggestions are welcome.
