replacing the panel lamps, there are 11. Sylvania 2721
twist the black sockets 1/4 CCW to remove, then pull bulbs out of the black sockets.

Does the instrument panel look like this from the front (my 2005 Edge)? There don't seem to be enough bulbs in your panel to address all the warning lights in the center of the display in my Ranger.

Most of the indicators are LED's, surface-mounted to the circuit board (Check Engine, ABS, low fuel are LED's). The turn signals and high beam are the 2721's.

I got tired of changing the bulbs in my '04. I soldered in my own white LED's for the instrument panel and HVAC controls 6 years ago.

does the dimmer function still work with the LED's - or are they on/off only?

They are slightly brighter than bulbs, dimmer works okay just not as low as with regular bulbs.

Thanks a bunch. You have no idea how hard it was to find out this relatively simple bit of information. I must have single handedly brought down a Google server searching for this. I almost bought a bunch of 194s:shok:

Thanks to everyone who helped here. Yes, I was able to pull the bulb out of one of the base plastic 1/4 lock things. I will wait for the eBay order to arrive and let you know what happened. Skeeter - I agree! Why should it be such a pain in the rear to find something this simple. My Ford dealer is freakin useless and even my 30+year NAPA counter guy was stumped!
I will attempt to load pics of the bulb in and bulb out pics here with an ink pen for reference.
