This will be my third Ranger 4x4 I have bought new(1996,2002,2011). This one is not quite as nice as my last two(2002 FX4 was very nice) I took it out today for some very light off road action(just wet fire roads) It drives great and all the systems(4hi 4low) seem to work as advertised.

My last two Rangers had limited slip rear diffs the FX4 even had 4.10 gears. This was listed on the window stickers and confirmed with lots of off road action. I assume my current one does not as it is not listed on the window sticker and I am fine with that for now.

When I was off road today in 2hi and punched it both rear tires appear to be spinning..:icon_confused: I did not do alot of testing as I have just under 100 miles on it so far. Is there a way I can confirm the gearing and if it has a limited slip rear diff?? I posted a picture of the door sticker below.

Also, when these street tires wear out, can I swap them with 31x10.5 15 all terrain tires with no rubbing(15x7 rims stock) I assume I can as my FX4 had them stock(15x8 rims) I has 32's on my first Ranger but I had a 4" suspension kit installed.

Pictures!

nice truck!! and yea u can put 31"s in there with no proble, the fx4 rims were 15x7 too. so its basically the same rim.

u got a code 96 axle. that means
open diff. 3.73 gears

Yup, no more limited slip option. Traction control took it's place.

Nice ride, now let's lift it. slap some 33 on it off road lights roll bar etc! Just messin. Nice!

Thanks! Thats was what I figured when I bought it. My master plan is to level the suspension get some 31's and possibly a true lock rear diff after the warranty runs out. Or better yet 33's true lock front and rear with 4.10 gears and a suspension lift. :icon_thumby: suspension kit options seem a little limited for this truck(not a big fan of body lifts)

:D

You would be shocked if you saw some the trails my stock FX4 made it through. At the time alot of my friends had rock crawling rigs(straight front axle Toyota's with crazy suspension mods and lockers or limited slips) as you can imagine they just loved to get the Ranger dude stuck and did..:thefinger:.

My First Ranger did very good on most of Moabs intermediate trails with 32's and a 4" suspension lift.

Very nice man. If I could buy any brand new car right now, it would be one of those. The last year for the US (for now hopefully!)

It's a shame knowing you own the last ranger you can ever buy never being able to get a newer one.

I got a 2011 ranger 4x4 sport I wanted it in that color but had to settle for red fyre as I got it a month ago and this was the only one I could find at any ford dealership.

A buddy of mine just bought a new 2011 and it is the same color as yours!! Really sharp looking. I went with him Wednesday afternoon to buy it. He wanted me to test it out and see how it is since he had only been driving Toyota's and Nissan crew cabs. He was disappointed in the storage area but his dad gave him a very nice Christmas gift and had a really neat insurance policy that he was able to cash out after 45 years and split among all the family. His dad gave him $27,000 cash.

He has gone offroad three times and now wants to do a slight lift (something that won't void the warranty) and put on some better tires and wheels!! He is happy with the Ranger but his 2006 Tacoma V6 4wd 4 door has a lot more power. He wants me to buy the Tacoma from him this coming year. I want a Raptor so bad after driving the 2011 model but I am not happy with the cost of one and don't want to sell any of my property to buy one. I might just buy that Tacoma. He as 56,000 miles on it and it still looks like new. He is building a new barn this March and he said I can get first dibs on the Tacoma...I will have to wait and see.....

according to the website of the 2011... they brought back the lsd... it is 2010 the it wasn't an option (only year to not have it)(thanks ford)... not even on the sport model( fx4 wanna be)

Congrats on the 2011! I really like those OE wheels. Ford actually made some look like expensive aftermarket ones.
