Photoshop Thread.

I know I have posted my truck here before, but I kinda want a paint job. (in real life too)

I was thinking Powder Blue, The 05 mustang "ice blue" is what I call it, or some sort of teal. (Not the teel that came with the older Rangers, I think it looks kinda cheap, but a nice teal)

Nice work on the guard and bull bar - you will be a welcome addition to this thread.

thanks man, im glad to help.

Shaun_kite - that truck is badass, but its hell to mask. I did burnt orange for you and it turned out ok. Its not as good as id like it, but it gives you the idea of what it looks like. I guess id call this burnt orange. Maybe hazmat ranger can help with the blue and hot orange. If not, ill get them done tomorrow.

Heres what i got...

hope it helps.

PS - i just realized i painted the F*%&ing headlight. Oh well. sorry.

haha no worries! I really appreciate the help! I tried to mask it and it was killing me..guess it wasnt as easy as I though.. I would take a good pic of the side of it right now but there are 4 cars in the driveway!- Here is a side pic of it on a trailer..not as much shadows and light in this maybe it would be easier?

man, i gave this a try but it kinda sucks. The top of your truck whites out and blends into the water or snow whatever and i cant get it to line up right. Hopefully this will help you get the idea. I wasnt really sure what a powder blue is, so i imagined this. Hope i helped.

Lol. Idk if I would like it in real life. Also, that REALLY brings out that dent in my fender.

thanks alot! those are awesome!! gives me some ideas on what i can do! the sad part is i still cant decide between a bull bar or a grill guard!! haha

Can you do a cars version of my truck too if you get a chance! Thanks!

cheers

Hey Shaun - the first thing to do in color changes is to isolate the body. Make a selection around the edges, not very close, just a rough selection and copy it to a new layer. Then turn off the original layer, grab that trusty eraser and begin erasing everything you do not want changed or colored. Once you have the body isolated, control click on that layer and then create an adjustment layer (in CS3 it is the blk/wht circle at the bottom of the layers palette, in older versions open the layer menu and find adjustment layer - hue saturation.). This will give you the ability to create a colored version of your body that is editable at any time. In making the following images I made 3 adj layers, one for each color. Also you can change the blending modes for the colored layers as well, ultimately giving you unlimited color palettes.

Anyway - here is what I came up with real quick - hope you like.

Burnt Orange

Blue

Hot Orange with Black Graphics - yeah they didn't isolate so well

Sorry for the novel in the description above, if you need clarification PM me and I will try to explain better.

Love that rig man, got any action shots - post them in the show off area.

Later :icon_thumby:

you are the man. Im gonna try those tips out tomorrow. I figured there had to be some way to save the selection. I was just using the quick mask tool and it was pretty tedious and sometimes it wont find the parts i need. Im gonna try to improve my skills. seeing your work shows me that i need some practice for sure.

Shaun, that's a pretty wild ride you got there. Got any more photos or details on it somewhere here in the forum? Can you post pics and details in the pre-runner forum?

hazmat or anyone else, can you help me with this picture:

Is there anyway you can take the lines out and make it all match up?

Everyone started somewhere for me it was over 10 years ago and I still love it today. Another tip is to ALWAYS work on a copy of your original, I have lost some good pics over the years forgetting that one basic step. It allows you to do ANYTHING to the pic and not have to worry about screwing up your base image.

Good Luck man and let us see some of your works in the other PS thread I started for us to show off our skillzzzzz - LOL

word. Ill find that thread. I cant seem to figure out the instructions you posted earlier. I masked it. then erased everything i didnt want painted. Then i clicked the adjustment layer and hue saturation button but whenever i set a color and turn the background back on the bg has funny colors. Why is this? Oh, and i learned the hard way too about saving the original. I always work with a copy.:icon_thumby:

aaron - How are these?

Close as I could get without just making a shape of your truck and coloring it Ice Blue
