Photos: New babies

You had/have a pet bobcat? I'm jealous. All I have is my mixed breed/half persian that rules over my house acting all high and mighty. Seriously - he's like 10 lbs, and we used to have another male cat that was 23 lbs - and guess who the alpha male was?

mascot eh, i got one

Haaa, I've noticed that Avatar. This is Lilly. She is a fun little baby. She was born earlier this year and is now going on 5 months. She don't pose on her belly or play dead...lol.

aww, baby armoured possums are so cute, do they bite? mabey i'll get one to replace my step moms beagle :D

No, they don't really have teeth to bite unless you are hurting them and then thay can put a squeeze on you with their mouth. They have very sharp claws that can scratch the crap out of you if you try to hurt them!!! Lilly is very gentle and a bit shy around strangers at first, but she begs for attention when you put out some cat or dog food that she loved the best. She gets veggies as well.

i think i know what im getting! but it aint gona ride in the cab with my vinyl seats

Raccoons are scary when they get big. I live in Denver (a major city) and we have lots of them around. One night I came home about midnight; I heard something growling on my front porch. It was a big-ass raccoon mama and her baby. She growled and showed her teeth, then took off over the porch and waddled away. Scared the s*#t out of me!

We've got lots of foxes around; you see them a lot in the early morning or when it's getting dark. One day there was a young one being absolutely tormented by two big, black crows that were dive-bombing it. It was broad daylight and the poor thing was trying to get away. Must have gotten separated from its kin.

Damn Stray, you've got yourself a little petting zoo (better than a heavy petting zoo) in your back yard. I'd have a hard time keeping track of all of their names.

Is anybody aware of the private zoo story in Ohio ? The owner died, but before he did, he released all the critters. The saddest part was that the cops heard a ferocious roar & shot a duck-

all strays pets are wild and goto his house to mooch treats, unlike tigers/lions/bears that the dude brought in...

I wish I lived in a place where the wild life came up to me like that and just chilled. The last fox I saw in person was 5 years ago while I was out hunting and 50 yards away from me.

I use to hunt racoons when I was younger. Possums like to play chicken with my tires (I avoid them, dont need a bone in my tire, have seen it happen). Foxes, I stop to admire them.

I wish I could rasie a bobcat and knew how to do that but the closes thing that I have to that is my cat named Bob who I have had for 8 years now.

The trick to getting a wild animal to buddy up to you is to earn their trust. The babies are scared at first to see a human, but after awhile they get used to you and they will explore what you are and what your actions are. I don't want every animal to loose their fear of man...that can get hurt or killed by evil people. I grew up in Africa (my dad was an AF pilot). And we had all kinds of pets there and had all kinds of wildlife in our backyard and in the house. We had a per monkey named Boo and he was so cool. Some mornings we would go out on the patio and see a Cheetah or a lion cooling out under one of the overhead fans. That was so cool!!!
I had a pet Cheetah named Henry for about a year (his mom was killed by a poacher). We released him out in the wild and it broke my heart...but that is where he really belonged. I remember hearing the expression 'If you really love something, set it free. If it does not come back, it never belonged to you. If it does come back then it is yours'. Henry came back three times in a two year period. Then one night he sat by my feet on the patio and made the funniest noise. He rubbed against me, leaped up and put his face against my face and then left. He looked back twice and growled three times. We never saw him again in the compound. We saw him again out in the preserve and he had a family then. He and his mate had two cubs. He watched us and came over to look at us but never got near enought for me to stroke his fur like I used to. He had grown up.
I need to go over to my parents house and find some photos. Most are in black and white. My mom finds my old photos and then looses them again. She can hide an Elephant in that house, man!!! lol

One of my biggest things besides my truck is animals. They cant talk to you, if something breaks you cant just fix it with a welder or set it aside for later, etc.... Exotic animals have always fasinated me and I have always wanted to raise one and then return it to the wild.
