one of my buddies just said he saw a company that makes a permanent fix for the dreaded a4ld, he's looking for the link for me . has anyone else ever heard of such a thing, seems a little too good to be true to me. apparently on some models u can even do the fix with the trans still in? hmmmm? ill post the link if he finds it for me...

Has to be some sort of fluid cooler. Aside from filters/valve body, pan gasket/tail shaft seal and fluid changes, there are no auto transmission services that can be performed in vehicle.

haha, when i saw this...first thing i thought of, was put a different tranny in it...ha, only true logical thing..haha.

me too, but I didn't want to say anything. I've already been accused of being a dick once this month on here.

Makes a decent bit of sense, price isn't too bad, all though I bet shipping blows. For those that actually WANT the A4LD, I guess that it would be worth a shot, considering how much $$ it costs to get one rebuilt, but, personnally, I will stick with the trannies that say things like New Process, ZF, and Spicer.

I've built my own Frankentranny. Not that hard to do. Worked great. I now have a real 5R55E instead.

M5OD is the permanent fix for the A4LD

hows that holding up to the power of a supercharged 4L bent bolt?

Never had the Frankentranny behind the blown 4.0 but I have no doubt that it would do just fine.
