This seems like a step in the right direction. To bad they don't give stuff away...

I didn't see were they said if you had to start with a certain model. It looks like all the upgraded truck they show were FX4's. Maybe a lower trim level with the off road upgrades will be easier to swallow for some buyers.

At least you can get the FX4 package on any trim level.

They must have heard @Jim Oaks, KO2's are an included on Level II and III.

Seems a hair on the pricey side for what you get though? Level II you get Rigid fogs, tires, different tune, painted tow hooks and a license plate frame for $4500?

You never get your money's worth on stuff like this. Always cheaper to do it yourself. Good for the lazy people with money to burn though lol

I think it was Clarkson that talks about it on the first season of top gear. He's reviewing the new mini Cooper, and talking about price differences. The next step up from the base model had a more aggressive tune giving it more power, but costed another 5k. He goes on to say that the smart person should buy the base model, and then order the "better" computer for a mere 1200 and swap it out in 5 minutes.. Saving 3800 bucks.

You also get the Fox shock upgrade... that comes with Level I

I can get a Chevy Colorado Bison 4x4 with a winch bumper, sport bar in the bed, BFG's, and front and rear electric lockers for $47k.

Ford is never going to build the Ranger I'd build, or the one I'd offer.

But at least they're trying.

That's the big plus, still having a factory warranty. Personal preference but I'm not a fan of the wheels, they look to be 18" tires and I don't care for the fast back light rack. Plus, there is still no option for a front locker or LSD.

My Money is on the Next Gen Ranger to deliver the goods in a way they never have before. Time will tell...

Maybe I need to make a side by side comparison chart between the Chevy Colorado Bison and the Ford Ranger FX4 as well as these new options as well as the pricing so Ford and others can see where changes need to be made.

I've already made the suggestions for a Ford Ranger FX4 Level II that can out compete the Colorado and Jeep Gladiator. I'm not repeating myself.

Tires and shocks are wear items. They probably won’t kick you to the curb over properly fitted aftermarket wheels.

Aside from the leveling kit, tune and maybe bumper I don’t see much Ford is going to care about.

The tune has been available for awhile on its own and I bet the bumper and leveling kit will be too if they are not already. I think most Ford Performance stuff purchased and installed thru a dealer is warranty friendly.

Even just a straight ZR2...

FX4 is a good TRD Offroad/Z-71 fighter. ZR2/ZR2 Bison and TRD Pro (which is weak compared to the ZR2 variants) are unanswered.

I don't think any current midsize will be able to lock horns with a Rubicon Gladiator offroad and live to tell about it without major rework.

I assumed the 270 hp factory offering was for reliability insurance. Now that they are offering the 315 hp upgrade as a factory upgrade option, I’m second guessing that.
