what do yall think about the superchip tuners. i wanna get one when i get money but thats alot money to gamble around something i dont no about

I haven't used the superchip tuner but I have bought the Jet Performance Chip from TRS website. It seemed to work at first but couldn’t notice a difference, now the truck feels like I lost horsepower. They say you should use 91 octane or higher and I have been but the truck is pre-detonating a lot more than usual. I’m going to try and clean the circuit board again. They say if you experience any problems you should try that first.

If anyone else who has bought the performance chip and has experience problems please reply to this post.

Thank You!

***The pre-detonating might be because they are selling regular fuel instead of premium and we're paying more for regular thats suppose to be premium. I can't be sure about it, i know there was a thing about on the news that it was happening in some places.***

There used to be a dyno sheet on RPS that showed you actually lose power with the JET chip. I'll try and find it. Personlally I stay away from JET all together.

As far as superchips, It might make an improvement, but there seem to be many more ranger specific tunes with something like an sct x-cal. If you have a local tuner, that suggests using superchips, and can tune the truck for you in person, then I say go for it. But if you're doing mail order, I'd go with an established tuner like Fred @ rogueperformance. He's an SCT dealer, and has tons of 3.0 specific knowledge. He can account for any other mods you may have, so that you get the most out of your tuner.

^ thanks ill have to check that website out. and as far as i no there isnt any shops like that around here

They have a dyno sheet that says it gives more horsepower, idk i think it gave me more horesepower but i'd try superchips programmer first.

Superchips will give you one stupid 87 tune that is generic as can get. Get a custom tuned SCT X3! Made a big difference in throttle response, powerband, and shift characteristics for something that takes all of five minutes and no tools to install.

I agree with gottagofast. Get the SCT and get the programing that YOU want. Check out the different different programming out there and talk with the person writing the programs. Get custom for the same price as Superchips. I got mine from Rogue Performance and have been happy with it. 93 Octane is the way to go.
