got an 04 ranger and was thinking of getting a chip/programmer for my truck. hopefully with multiple settings like more power, more fuel economy... any suggestions. will be doing headers within the next month or so as well.

well especially if you are physically modifying the engine you will want to get it tuned by a professional, honestly it shouldn't cost more than an actually tuner. Ask yourself really how can a company that has never tested your truck make a map that will work perfect. you can almost guarantee that if you go to a tuner and it will probably give you more power than a generic one

SCT X-cal is where it's at! Talk to Fred @rogueperformance.com. He has TONS of 3.0 specific knowledge, and can write you tunes for towing, performance, or mileage. He can also do different fuels, and can account for your mods. Best option for tuning the 3.0 IMO.

ive done heads on a mustang, and we have yet to tune it, we usually take them to hi-tec. we have had pretty good luck with them. they already tune it so i don't know if a tuner would be worth it.
