who has a 2.9 ranger that is chipped.....i tow a 16ft trailer with quads and stuff i need a little more ass i was thinking exhaust and a chip....If you have one what kind and was it worth the money???
ok go to jet, they make a chip for it, blow like 300 on one then after your fuel milage drops and your still looking for more power consider using all that money towards a gear change if that won't work, try a 4.0 or 5.0 swap, those are about the one way to get the power you want.
That might not be the "solution", but basically there's not a lot of tweaking that can be done to the stock engine management system that's going to gain you a significant difference. I have a cammed 2.9L running on a stock MAF PCM, you won't find me buying a chip anytime soon either.
Better rear end gearing is probably a cheaper solution to look into..
yeah i have a hypertech chip. no real big game. but i didn't lose any gasmilage. but i drive like an old man to get good milage. gears would be a good start. synthetic fluid would help. maybe an electric fan too.
