I see these performance chips advertised that can increase HP up to 35 hp. Has anyone placed these chips in their car? What results have you experienced? Do they hurt the car in anyway? Do they void the warranty?

Dont waste your money on these. They are complete crap. If you want a chip, get a real one or get a program to flash your cars computer. A quality chip will run you $200+. If its a $39.99 chip, dont buy it. These 35hp increase chips are nothing more than resitors that fools the computer into thinking its cooler that it really is or something like that.

GMWIGGS, what chip are you using and how much of a difference did it make? otherwise your under-the-hood view looks an awefully lot like mine, minus the underdrive pulleys. I use ethanol all the time in mine, so im using 110+ octane on a daily basis anyways

Don't waste your money its just a resistor put in place to fool the computer into dumping more fuel in the engine when it doesn't need it. I would think it would void your warrenty as well and if it didn't your gonna be having some serious problems with your engine down the road.

Like stated before get a tuner, It gives different tunes to your ECM without fooling it. Its more expensive but you can also get multiple tunes for them as well, like one for power one for economy, one for speed ect ect...

how well do those tuners work? I run E-85 which is about 110 octane anyways

The octane of fuel doesn't really matter. Octane is basically the heat and compression at which the fuel will ignite. The higher the rating the higher compression engine it belongs in. Thats why you see some of the older high compression muscle cars and newer turbo cars like subarus require the 90 octane and stuff.

As for a Tuner... What it does it i guess reprogram the ECM technically. It changes the fuel pretty much. Like the injecter pulse duration. The timing and stuff... thats how it makes the power. And different settings like power will give it more fuel and advance the timing for more horsepower while a economy setting will lean the fuel and retard the timing for better gas mileage.

Sorry if this is alittle confusing to read, I'm kinda distracted watching fireworks...
