pedal compatibility question

Hi guys. My first post.
I have an '89 bii I bought about a year ago. Drove it about 4 months then the a4ld started slipping bad and got down to just reverse and 1rst gear.

I found a '94 exlorer 4x4 (my bii us also 4x4) the owner says has a locked motor, says clutch is just a yr old. I havnt looked at it yet but I plan to.
My question is can the clutch/pedal assembly be swapped into my bii, or do I need to get from a ranger or other bii manual?

I don't know if the Explorer assembly would work. I would assume yes. But, there is no need to replace the whole assembly. When I switched my BII over to a stick, I just added the clutch pedal. If I remember right, it was a little tedious, but I didn't need to remove the assembly.

My 1987 BII could not use the 1989 pedal assembly because of the spacer on the pedal assembly being too wide to fit. Here's a photo of the 1989 and should give you an idea of what you need to look for: The 1987 is on the left and the 1989 on the right.

I didnt get the explorer yet, brother was gonna help me get it but not sure now.
he wants to try to rebuild the a4ld but I want to have a manual in there and this explorer seems my best chance. Whole truck for under 500$ and I could use the axles in mine plus sell the rest of it for money back. I really want the manual trans.

The big cast aluminum frame thing is the same between an automatic and manual?

I fought tooth and nail to get the whole thing out of a truck... IIRC it was a second gen too.

Yes, the frame that holds the pedals was the same between manual and automatic. I'm not sure about the Explorer, but it seems Ford used the same basic stuff in most cases for the Rangers/BroncoII/Explorers.

The cast aluminum support bracket MAY be different but the difference is not a 6sp vs auto difference...

The difference is that the '89 bracket likely has only a single bolt hole in the middle of the bracket going to the underside of the cowl (firewall), while the '94 bracket will certainly have TWO bolt holes that are located differently

So you will likely need to swap the '94 pedal parts onto your 89 bracket
