Will a screwed up PCV valve cause intermittant problems? I have been having this problem of my BII running like dirt after about 30 mins or so....the other day it did it again and I noticed the PCV had partially popped off the valve cover...I replaced it and the grommet and its running better tahn ever? WTF?

A bad PCV valve can cause rough idling and things of the like. I would say that its possible that it can cause intermittent problems if it gets stuck open (allowing too much air to pass through) and then gets knocked loose. I don't know how likely that is but if it gets stuck open and then gets stuck closed or just gets knocked loose and then gets stuck open again, its possible that it could cause intermittent problems.

a stuck/failed PCV valve often acts like a large vacuum leak (because it basically is). ive never seen one cause an intermittant problem, but i suppose it can.

just an FYI, i always reccomend using an OE replacement for PCV valves. aftermarket replacements are generic and not properly metered for most applications.

Too late I bought one from Advance! I guess I could go get one at the dealership...the one at Advance was only $1.52 so its not like I will be out a buttload of money!
