hey guys can someone help out please i have a brand new 2.9 in my truck with only 189 miles on it i bought a short block and i bought a junk yard 2.9 i took the heads and had them redone the guy who did them told me they were good no cracks or anything well it turned out 1 head had a big ass crack in it that this dumbass did not see so he is replacing everything now my question is when i broke down the motor i noticed there is oil on the intake on the front runner it looks like the pcv is sucking oil through the tb is this normal on the 2.9 or what i did see the same thing on the junkyard motor to any help would be app.

Does the PCV rattle when you shake it? I would suggest to just replace the PCV valve. But it could be that the rings just haven't seated yet.

I've read somewhere that 2.9L head cracks are often overlooked because of where the cracks typically occur.

Stressed. :) How have you been?

The white crap is probably moisture, either just was there, or from the cracked head. I had about 1/4" of green sludge under my covers when I pulled them off and had a cracked head. The PCV valve sucks that crap/gasses out so that it doesn't turn into sludge later on. Keep an eye on your water level for sure.

hey pete how are you you hit the nail right on the head yes i am stressing the white sluge is under both covers i just pulled the head that was cracked off. but i just called the prick who is redoing the head today and he is not done yet this prick is just jerking my chain iam just puzzeled why there is oil in the intake that is being sucked in though the tb iam new to this motor so i dont know if this is right or not iam just hoping thereis nothing else wrong with this thing i will tell you 1 thing this is the last 2.9 i will own i will stick to the v8. oh my other concern is that i am only replacing the 1 head but we will see i will keep you posted on the outcome.
