Partly why I like my current system...I haven't had to think about too much in terms of upgrades...even though I paid almost $4,000 for my first 486 computer and other goodies...

It is working nicely. I installed another 500GB hard drive and a 160 GB hard drive in it. I set up a RAID 1 system on the 2 500GB hard drives and I use the 160GB hard drive for a third backup.

I still need to get some pictures.

When you setup a RAID 1 on 2 drives, what happens is you have an exact backup. The drives are mirrored so if the only way I will lose my data and install is if both drives crash at the same time. So if drive 1 fails, I can keep working until I can install a new drive without any data loss. When I install a replacement drive, it will mirror the other drive with all the information on it.

I am thinking about going to a RAID 5 so I get mirror and stripping; of course I would have to install 2 more 500GB hard drives. That would increase the speed of programs since it will take 2 hard drives and put parts of programs on one and the rest on the second. The other 2 drives will then mirror the first 2 for a backup. It will be like having 1 12,000 RPM drive.

i have that processor its great i have to over clocked to 3.2 all at stock voltage. I have it with an MSI bord gigabyte makes good boards also. I have an xfx 8800gt pci express and 4 gigs of ram all in an antec 900 case. I really love the set up. i noticed that your pics and stuff are from tiger direct check out newegg that is where i buy all my stuff its cheaper and the shipping is way less. If the price is cheaper on tiger direct they usually rape you for shipping. Newegg often has free shipping you can google discount codes for them and put them in when you check out and save even more.

I have bought from Newegg before and had bad customer service and shipping experiences from them. I have never found anything on Newegg that wasn't the same price or cheaper from Tigerdirect.

Every single company on the planet has buyers with experiences and opinions just like yours. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. Me nor my handful of other computer geek friends that have been buying from Newegg for years have ever had a problem. They've been nothing but amazing to me and my family and friends. Tigerdirect being a low-cost retailer with ample options for underground PC builders is news to me. I actually get a lot of my stuff at the local CompUSA these days (but I wouldn't get a motherboard/CPU from them).

It isn't bad when they are all running. With the fan controller, I can turn them down when I am just surfing the net or working on an Office program. I really run the intake fans up when I play a game. I leave the exhaust fan at a moderate speed so it wont suck in a lot of dust.

More air drawn in will create positive pressure inside the case not allowing the dust to be sucked into the case. If there is more air being exhausted than being intaked then it creates a negative pressure allowing excessive dust inside the case.

They are all absolute garbage, with PCChips, ECS and MSI by far the worst. I would recommend Gigabyte, Asus, or Intel (which won't work in this case.) I have had amazing luck with all three with only one or two failures out of probably 100+ hand built boxes that I've dealth with over the last decade.

MSI makes decent high end boards. Intel boards are for users that never want to tweak there system. The intel board I bought for my E6600 blew up in less then 10 months.

I would seriously consider an Intel chip. Either a Dual or Quad core...at this point in time the outperform AMD chips by a decent margin. Oh and Newegg has been the best in my experience of buying computer hardware. I've easily spent 4-5k with them building my own rigs, and building for others.

I like AMD better for dual core and quad core processors right now. I have a dual core 2 intel in my work PC and it can't compete with my AMD I have at home.
