pb blaster vs grease

PB blaster works just fine here in the rust belt of New England.

If you're lookin' to prevent future rust, coat the fittings (nuts/bolts, etc) with corn head grease...ask your local John Deere dealer for it...comes in a tub or tube like caulk. It won't wash off. If you're looking to break up rust to remove fittings...acetone and tranny fluid mixed together but the acetone evaporates fast so act quick when you mix it and don't smoke around it (acetone) or get it on your hands...very nasty stuff for your bod.
I found this I never heard of corn head grease but have seen it in older gearboxes I thought was contaminated oil.

Well if you've been around farms, combines and such you know what a corn head is...for those who haven't it's a big, wide sickle-bar cutter that works kinda like an electric or gas powered hedge cutter/trimmer. It has to stay lubricated and sharp. Corn head grease is made to not mix with or wash off in moisture (emulsify, I think). It sticks where you put it. Some folks use it instead of Lubriplate 105 white engine building grease in direct drive outboard motor lower units/gear boxes. It will get real nasty looking...like old motor oil, and will smell too...but it's slippery're than owl sh*t on sheet ice....don't ask how I know what that's all about.
