Where is the PATS located on a 2000 Ranger Extended cab 3.0? I looked behind the glove box and found a wiring harness not hooked up to anything that was white and had 4 wires and 2 black wires going to a small box thing on top of the airbox. If the small box is the PATS, how do I get it out, I cant reach the back bolt closest to the firewall. I am swaping a 4.0 in for my 3.0 and both motors are 2000's.

According to the ford shop manual it is behind the passenger side air bag module, and the air bag has to be removed to get to it.

Yea you do have to remove the airbag to get to it. Pretty sure it's just 2 bolts holding it in.

I found the PATS. You have to remove the passenger Air Bag as mentioned above. On my Ranger, looking straight into the hole is the Air Distrabution unit. Above that, opposite the PCM on the firewall is the PATS.
I was confused with a white box ontop of the Air Distrabution Box that had a white plug (wires almost matched the wires from the antenna from around the Key) that ended up being something for the Air Box. I had read somewhere the PATS box was white, but that was incorrect.
The PATS was held to the inside of the dash with a silver bracket. You will only see the bracket from the cab. Remove the bracket and the PATS unit is attached. Once I found it, it was easy to get out, but I ended up destroying the Dash on my Doaner trying to idenify the boxes I could see. It was fun and a learning process.
