Passing CA Emissions

I figured with no CEL... no driveability issues and a new Cat... she would go through.

When I did emission testing in Michigan it was 220 ppm HC and 2.0 percent CO. However we could barely make the damn things run with all the BS mixture control solenoids... variable venturis... stepper motors... tamper proof everything on the feedback carbs we had in that era.

That little yellow truck is coming along nicely... good work.

Variable venturi carburetors were a neat idea at the time. I had a 1975 Pinto with a 2.8L V6 that had the standard Motorcraft/Autolite carburetor on it. I bought a junker 1977 Mustang II for parts to fix another Pinto that had a VV carburetor on a 2.8L V6 and put it on the Pinto. The driveability and response was notably better, but the VV carburetors had a problem with sticking. It worked great otherwise.
