passenger side axle not spinning in 4wd

need help with this 1991 ford ranger 4.0 4wd, when i put it in 4x4 while driving the drivers side axle spins but the passenger doesn't and if i gas it in 4x4 only the backs spin has anyone had a problem like this thanks

The front end is an open diff so its only going to send power to one axle.

But since youre not getting 4wd sounds like you maybe have a bad hub.

yeah that what i was figuring but i figured the axle itself would still spin especially wen just on flat ground

If the hubs not grabbing youre going to get zero power to the front tire regardless
 
Electric or manual transfer case? I'm assuming auto hubs? If electric transfer case does it shift into low range? The auto hubs are kinda odd and only engage when there is some slippage and there is force applied to the front axle where the axle shaft can spin faster than the tire for a little bit to engage the cams...

If you engage the transfer case (low or high, doesn't matter) then jack up one front tire and turn it within about a turn it should engage both hubs just to test that, I think that would work, been a while since I thought about it...
