First of all, I have searched and found things that almost answer my questions, but not really (forum search, and tech library). And I put it in General, becuase it would fit in the motor, tranny, and kind of wiring sections
The A4LD in my 4.0L 93 Ranger is on it's way out (it blew ATF out onto the exhuast on the mountian pass/ freeway, that was a smoky sight... And then slipped when I put it in drive once, but hasn't done either since) so I am saying screw the autos, I'm swaping to a manual.
My Ranger is a '93 4.0L 4x4, automatic, electric t-case, ext cab.
My question is, would a '91 Explorer 4.0L, 4x4, Manual (M5OD), electric t-case be a good donor rig?
I think I'll be using my engine again rather than the one from the donor, but I was told that the motors were different in just about every year... I didn't think that was true. I was under the impression that a 4.0L was the same from 90-93, and in 94 they got a camshaft sensor, and then they went to OBDII in 95, and changes later on don't really affect me.
I'm going to use my motor with the 5spd out of the Explorer, along with the Explorer computer and required wiring.
Is there any reason that engine/ computer combo won't work, like I have been told?
I haven't found a single 4.0L Ranger for under $1000, let alone a 4wd, or a manual 4.0.. But I've found a few manual Explorers, and this one happenes to be 500 bucks, so I'm jumping on it.
One last confirmation, the pedal assemby out of the Exploder will not work in the Ranger, correct?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
