parking brake cable problems

I'm trying to put new parking brake cables in my truck so I can get it inspected. I have all the new cables in, but I can't get the front one to reach the back. When I took the old ones out I had to cut them because they were totally frozen, so I wasn't able to release the tension at the pedal like the book says and I think that might be the problem. Is there a way to turn the cam against the adjuster spring? Also, it just occured to me that I had to get a 95 front cable for my 94, but I put the 94 rear ones in. They seem to be the same length as the ones I took out though.

I had problems with mine when I replaced all the cables also...seemed I could just get them to connect together but there was no room to tighten them properly into the rear retainer bracket...but it eventually worked out through loosen a bit here, pull a bit there...

If the cables are the same length it will go back together...the only difference in the cables is between regular cab/extended cab and short bed/long bed...which you can tell by looking at them or comparing them...but there is about a 12" difference in these cables...enough to be noticeable...and that difference is in the one coming from the front to the back since they all usually connect in the same location.

I could only suggest to keep trying as long as the cables are the same...they will not connect otherwise...

Thanks. I'll definitely keep trying, but as it stands, I'm coming up about 3" short.
