Good morning.

I have an intermittent draw on the system it can go months then suddenly decide to kill the battery overnight.

The GEM was replaced with OE Ford sometime ago for an unrelated problem.

Looking for the "common" issues specific to these trucks to check out because due to the intermittent nature this is difficult to diagnose.

Does your glove box door have a courtesy light? I would take the bulb out. Any other lights like that? On the sunvisors? Under the hood?

Sounds to me like a light is staying on somewhere. Shouldn't the GEM prevent that though? Or does it not have that much control in 2002?

I would think any courtesy light would still come on, even with the key off. As in the domelights. They come on when open the door so you can see to get in. All it takes is a faulty switch to tell the GEM to turn the lights on.

It does have a glove box light, the switch appears to work but i will take the bulb out anyway, no underhood light or visor lights.

Fairly sure the interior and/or cargo light are not staying on as we have outdoor cameras which i should be able to see this on.

Keep the ideas coming please.

To bring this around, recently while diagnosing an unrelated problem, (crank / no start) I had a B1359 code (ignition Run/Accy circuit) so i replaced the ignition switch as this seems to be common. Hopeful this was the problem.

And to bring it around again, still doing it.

I put a 2A onboard charger on it..
