I need a new paintjob on my 2004 b4000, was thinking of taking it on as project myself. Saw online people painting their trucks with Durabak themselves looked pretty neat was wondering if you can spray the smooth type paint? Has anybody tried it?

One thing that most people don't realize is that you can stand way back and get a great paint job with no runs but you'll be waisting paint so they get in close and mess it up. Just because it looks like a spot youbmissed wait till it dries. And hit it again. I've seen people do really good jobs on rattle can paint with the paint attachment. I'm talking shiny smooth nearly no imperfections. He took his time.

You can make a rattle can paint job look professional. Etch the paint with sandpaper but sand in circles. Wet sanding works best. Then use primer / matte and do atleast 2 coats. Go over it and make sure there's no runs and then choose your final color. I would do atleast 2 coats with it too to make sure it all shines and there's no matte showing. And then you just go over it all with a clear coat. Otherwise it with fade quick. And yes the atachable pistol grip works wonders. But another tip is make sure its warm outside. With most paints if its below 50 or 60 you can't make it not run. Hope this helped
