I want to paint my chrome bumpers semi gloss black, but im not sure how to go about this, without it peeling like three weeks down the road... If anyone has done this please let me know and if anyone has pics i would love to see them.

Thanks

pretty easy. scuff it up really good, use some self-etching primer, good stuf u dont wanna skimp this part. and there ya go use watever paint u want over it. u can also do a web search"painting chrome" and u get a lot of answers too

I painted my silverado chrome rear bumper and I just ground it down real well, then put willbond all over it, and painted it, but the front bumper is what you need to worry about chipping off from rocks and big bugs. I would go with snoman's advice :icon_thumby:

actually you dont wanna use a self etching primer. it interferes with the paint bonding to the chrome.

what you wanna do its scuff the chrome with 320 grit sand paper, than hit it with an adhesion promotor, than hit it with whatever paint your going to be using.

i painted a set of chrome rims for my friend this way and they look great 3 years later.

if it works on rims, bumpers will be cake.

thanks for posting Blackwidow67, interesting episode.
