ok i just put a new pa in my truck and now all its doin to actin like a speacker for the cb .yes its in the pa wire port .i can talk in the mic and it comes out the pa but if i switch it back to cb i can still talk threw it.help plzz i only have till 4

Sounds like the external speaker output instead of the PA output. If there is one marked external speaker, you may try that to see if anything got switch around.

nope its in the pa not ext .im not a rere .and its an old midland from the early 70's

Check that your radio is not set in the monitor position. If it is in this position it sends all received transmissions through the pa system. You should have PA, MOnitor, and CB. Or something similar. Otherwise a simple toggle just like a light would work to shut off the pa speaker when your not using it. BUt if both come through it I would keep it that way. Internal speakers suck bawlz.

Yeah, I thought about this after I stated that. If it was in the external speaker output, you wouldn't hear what you are transmitting, just the CB traffic. It's definitely in the PA output. I don't have a monitor option on mine, just PA and CB, sorry no help from here but good luck solving it.

The PA output usually has the jack insulated from chassis ground with a plastic washer inside & out because if it gets grounded, the speaker will play any audio that exists. Look for ground getting to the circuit where it shouldn't be getting it from.

This.

Make sure you run your speaker ground back to the jack on the radio, and that no part of the speaker circuit is grounding out on anything.

on the back of the cb there is a ext speaker and one p.a. so i just grounded it the the firewall were the pa is.
