Hi all,
I've got a new: mass air flow monitor (dealership installed) cat monitor (dealership installed) purge something or other (my mechanic of 6 years installed before dealer worked on it) fixed vacum leak (my mechanic before dealer worked on it) new direct fit double cat (my mechanic one week after monitors installed and OBD would not reset and dealership told me I needed one) new gas tank sleeve (my mechanic before dealer installed monitors)
I've been working on this since mid April. I've driven "the god awful cycle" (Who the heck designed this anyway? so many steps! Reading and driving...not such a good thing). I need a test track I guess. I'll probably get ticketed for the CRAZY stuff I have to do. I've driven it in the morning when it is "cool" so ambient temperature here in Phoenix is in the 80s. I have several versions of "the god awful drive cycle" Owners manual, Ford Senior Master Ase & a Ford drive cycle from OBDII website. They are all a bit different.
I'm going back to the dealership tomorrow and I'm making them drive it. I don't think I have any DTCs because Auto Zone scan = pass. P1000 only shows up on my mechanic's scanner (he is beginning to get really tired of me stopping by to "check it" for me.
I'm 2K into the ORDEAL and still can't get my tags! I can't get a "waiver" because Emmissions sez I'm not "failing".
I'm getting all kinds of info. I have asked several mechanics including a competing dealership here in Phoenix. General consensus is that they have seen this thing take weeks to clear. Others tell me that is baloney. I don't have weeks any more. I'm at the end of a 1x only registration extension (No exceptions) I'm told.
I'm desperate...any help appreciated ~Rose
July 15th update...Emmissions waiver station drove The CYCLE after the dealership drove it and neither could not get it to go to ready status. Emmissions said take it home and DRIVE IT AGAIN in the morning. They wouldn't let me do the dynometer (old fashioned rollers with a cone over your tail pipe...I begged). Well, yesterday the Check Engine light came on! (I've been at this since mid April) !!!! My mechanic pulled codes: P1131 & P0153. He replaced front right and left oxygen sensors (Bosch). Then: back to THE DRIVE CYCLE! Nope...back to square one. Computer won't reset. Today he put in a new processor. Guess what I'm doing again...THE DRIVE CYCLE!!!! I'm losing my mind!!!!
