I want to get my truck smogged, but I can't get rid of the codes. I already replaced the ignition system. Plugs, wires, coil but it keeps tripping. Ignition timing, MAF, PCM what should I do?
Only one mechanic in the town i live in is a pain in the ass. I can fix just about anything , but I don't have a Snap-on Compute!
And the fires make it hard to get in and out of my property...

Have you checked compression on cylinder 2 to rule out a mechanical problem, i.e burnt valve, blown head gasket, bad rings?

The truck was a clean one owner with 86,000 miles on it in 16 years, i don't think it has anything to do with compression.
Geez, it bare has 115,000 miles on it.

Okie dokie...

The number of owners a vehicle has had has very little bearing on the compression.

The 3.0 on the other hand, particularly around the time yours was built, was known to have issues with valve seats.

Check the compression.
