anyone on here take off the overload leaf off the stock leaf pack what are the pros and cons of doing this?

why is this in the prerunner section????

i did and to compensate i added an exploror leaf inplace of the 3rd leaf my sig has pics

did it ride any better and did you get more axle wrap? I plan on doing that to mine but adding an add-a-leaf instead

I am not sure what section it goes in since I couldnt find a section for leafs and I heard people do this to their "prerunners" so the back end wont buck when mobbin through some sick whoops:dunno:

its alittle stiffer empty but it rides more level/stable with a load in the bead

It is not a benefit and will not allow you to go "mobbing in the whoops" If you want the capability to do so you need to spend some coin and get a leaf pack that works. removing the overload just lets the pack go into more negative arch. You need a spring pack with pre-load in it.

but I heard if you put kings on it it will mob through the sickest whoops ever:D and with that new super awesome top secret leaf pack you got in the works you would leave robby gordon in the dust:headbang: im going to run the stockers for now see how it works out I got some f-o-a's with stiff ass valving so Im not worried too much in breaking them if I do what better reason to upgrade to a real leaf pack for now ill try work with what I have until I get some more coin:icon_thumby:

wow...well removing the overload leaf is just going to turn your leaf packs linto W's.

sarcasm.. how much travel are you pulling with your 64' chevy leafs seems like a good alternative to spending 600+ on long travel leafs but it looks like it doesnt droop much..

the leaf set-up itself cycles 16" but the reason it doesn't seem to droop out very much in the aired out pics is because im running little 12" shocks for the time being. def a decent alterative to a deaver pack...just took allot of trial and error on where to mount the shackle. i have probably changed it 3 times since the build thread in order to get rid of some of its springyness and to use the shackle all the way to full bump. i think it will work well with a properly valved 2.5 16" saw shock...i had a few vids posted a while back of the truck in a whoop section in pismo and it stuck really good considering the shock i was running

eh be careful cuase the rear end really wont like that either, you may be rebuilding it sooner than you think with the stoclk springs and stiff valving. Something has to give and it might be your rear end first :D but that could lead you to a currier rear end :icon_welder:

Id really look into Race rangers rear setup

By the way, Race, you ought to repost in your section on the leafs about where the shackle should go and such so that way everyone would have a full DIY on your spring setup

Umm....no but it does make the guys that spent $1,700.00 for there leaf kit pretty upset when they get passed by a leaf sprung truck with accurate travel numbers and more pre-load then any other pack out there. I dont feel so bad for those guys though. That's only $1,700.00! I feel the pain with the linked truck guys that have spent much more. Memorial day weekend I expect to get passed down Barstow main by a leaf sprung. It will be a sad day for me but at the same time a great day for me and my buddy!! :D

great dave, so what your sayin is I need to sell off the Giant kit i have and buy yours? lol
