recently I was towing a trailer up a steep grade back to my house. When I backed up the trailer up my driveway, which is steep also, transmission oil shot out form my bell housing. Probably from the front pump seal. I let it cool over night and added a quart in the morning and it has been fine.
Has any one else had a similar problem?

Check your fan clutch. It is NOT good for your transmission to do this.

You're putting that much more load on the cooling system hanging out at Tahoe.

If you don't have the 2row radiator, I'd strongly suggest installing it (you'll need a fan shroud, too).

I have had the same problem. Twice out on the trail it happened. You let it cool, add more fluid, and you are able to limp home. I just replaced my torque converter seal two weeks ago. I haven't gotten a chance to put it to the test yet but i know that seal was blown out.

to much load on automatic transmission

I thought oil was coming of my transmission because it was hot but it is do to too much of a load. I have a steep drive way and a heavy snowmobile trailer. My truck was cold and I was moving my trailer up my drive way and oil came out of the main seal. If I put it in 4 low then it is fine.

JAck up your truck

REMOVE the vent ine that runs off the top of the auro trans and is retained by one of the top bellhousing bolts.

using a piece of wire remove the muddauber wasp pupae from the upper
end of the vent line and then blow the line clear with compressed air and install it.

Basically your trans is exibiting classic signs of a plugged vent line.

i seem to have a similiar problem, on warm summer days, after a long time driving it, i will notice a cloud of smoke behind me. the tranny fluid drips onto the exhaust from the bellhousing area.... i put in a quart and let it cool, then add some transmission sealer stuff. it will be fine for a month or two, then do it again. it only did it this summer though.......
