I have a 2008 Ford ranger Sport 4.0L with automatic transmission, I've had problems for awhile with it slipping while driving. Before I couldn't turn off the OD because it wouldn't work. Now it is working. I do mostly city driving, do you think that if the overdrive is always on during city driving that it would cause the transmission to act up by slipping. Do you who have automatic, turn off the OD until doing highway driving.
Any help right now would be great. I'm dropping off to the dealership next Monday.

That flashing is a code that is telling you what is wrong. I experienced the code twice. My Mountaineer would do it when the gear selector wasn't all the way in drive. More specifically, when I went past D a bit and it was slightly in 2nd.

If the dealer is going to charge you, I would look elsewhere for a solution. My friend owns a transmission shop, and he does free diagnostics. I honestly don't know if that's a common thing or not, but it will save you some dough if your truck isn't under warranty.

Sent while I should be doing something else

The OD switch is now working, so when I start the truck I push it in and the light comes on saying OD Off. And there is no slippage at all. Screw the dealership, if this works then I'll be ok.
