My overdrive button only works in P, R, N and 1. I can get it to work in Drive if I pull the shifter toward me. Is there a contact at the base of the shift lever that can be cleaned?
I changed my column to a tilt column I bought from boneyard. I still have my old complete column in the garage. I will sell you the shift lever and wiring for $10.00 plus shipping (probably $7.00 - $8.00) to your location. It's not hard to change the shifter, just disassemble the column cover, knock out the pin, change the shift lever and plug in the wiring plug. Let me know, via e-reply.
Glad the shift lever fixed your problem. There's nothing more satisfying than a successful DIY repair that saves you paying a Ford garage $96.00 an hour plus outrageous parts prices. I had to buy a 8mm manifold bolt a couple of week ago, and Ford lists those bolts for $4.50. Hardware store: 30 cents.
