Hi guys, my Ranger started giving me problems yesterday while was on my why to my cancer center. It started out of the blue overcharging. The gauge caught my eye when it pegged. As I was slowing down to stop, it went back to where it normally runs in the middle. Coming home from chemo I discovered that if I keep the engine speed under 1800-2000(I'm guessing here cause I don't have a way of reading it) it does just fine. I figured that the voltage regulator bit the dust, got a new one. Guess what? It didn't change a darn thing! So now I don't have a cue, and I need to get it fixed! Please help!

if its the alternator with the small 1 wire connector... it probably had a bad connection there causing the voltage regulator to "sense" low voltage output.. common issue on those alts and its usually a matter of scraping the green crap off and twisting the terminal 10degrees for a good connection
