:icon_bounceblue: Hey guys haven't been on for a while, been busy. Wanted to ask if any of you guys might have some ideas as to why my truck would over heat :icon_confused:, it seems to burn through water. This is the second Ranger I have owned now with the 2.9 and they both have had the same problem, I don't understand it is it something with the motors or what. Am I missing something with this or what :dunno:, any help would be greatly useful. THANKS in advance for any and all advice. :icon_thumby:

How fast is it losing water? Any leaks at all?

I would run it and make sure the antifreeze is circulating. If the water pumps OK then I would look else ware..

Another thing to think of is a cracked head. If that was happening, There would be anti freeze in the oil and white smoke from the exhaust.

I hope that helps you get started.

I have an 87 2.9L 4x4 and suffered with similar problems with mine a while back. Assuming there are no obvious (or even un-obvious) external leaks, try checking your oil filler cap for the dreaded "white snot" indicating there's an internal leak and water/antifreeze is getting in the oil.
