My credo
the grey-t escape
Gen 2 escape, unsure of the year but a gen 2, My daughters. She drives a very long stretch of road daily, 45 miles one way, no stops but many side roads. She was about halfway when someone slowed down, most likely to turn off on to a side road. Apparently she was in a daze and didn’t notice. Plowed into the back of a stopped truck, with her 5 y/o son with her. Im not a fan of the damn things but I believe the airbag did save her life. Yes, she & her son are ok- somehow. I guess the truck she hit only went away with a bent back bumper, dont know much about it except it was a pickup and maybe had a lift kit.

Important thing is that their both OK. Thats to be thankful for.

That looks awful but obviously it did what it was supposed to so they'd be okay inside. Glad everyone made it out alright. Scary stuff.

She only sent me a front photo, I tried to find it yesterday but it wasnt at the impound lot I thought it would be. Katie is bruised up a bit but Carson is fine, Im more worried about him. Yes kids bounce back pretty well and he seems fine but he does have scoliosis and I just dont know if hes hurt now in some way thats not seen.
Its a good argument for those automatic braking you see on tv commercials. She said she didn’t remember anything more from the time she left the one small town until the horn was blaring & the airbag dust was everywhere. Ive done the same thing on that road, go “A” to “B” but not remember any of the drive in between.
I think shes considering another escape, been a bad year for her, the focus was totaled out by a deer maybe 6 months ago. I havent told her the car saved her life, not sure she really needs to know that. But I know, that was one hell of a hit.

That looks like the front of my 2001 Honda CR-V after an encounter with the back of and Ram 2500. Same outcome.
I’m glad everyone is ok.

glad they are both ok... as cliché as it sounds, you can replace the car.

Glad your daughter and grandchild are OK. The airbags are supposed to be life savers. The crumple zones are supposed to help to but that usually means the car is totaled because it cost so much to replace all the stuff that is damaged. My wife got hit twice by newer Envoy and it tore the bumper cover off both of them with nothing but a scratch in her bumper, she had a 94 Explorer.

Glad they’re ok.

I was on the reciving end of the same situation recently. Ripped the rear axel off the springs, and ripped the transmission and engine off their mounts.

Ouch! Glad you're okay, but I feel far worse for that nice looking '92 than whatever that japanese (or german or whatever) POS that hit you was.

Some how a Volkswagen Jetta managed to do all that.

Has less then 3000miles on a rear end rebuild and complete suspension rebuild.

She was fine. Didn’t even go to the hospital. Everybody walked away just fine.

Although, when I opened her door to see if she was ok she had her phone in her hand. 🤦‍♂️

I'm glad they're ok.
