Hi All,

I'm looking for an original radio (hopefully) for my '91 Ranger. I don't know exactly what model she is, the "Ranger xxx" is missing from the side of the truck.

She is a long bed regular cab with the 4.0L V6 and auto transmission. Power steering/brakes/windows, A/C, Cruise and the aluminum wheels with the round holes. Axle code is D5.

If anyone can help me identify a radio that will fit my baby, I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you,

Amanda

I would think any of the newer style single DIN OEM radios would work too

Or just get a cheap new aftermarket radio

.

That radio requires a factory amp and won't work in your Ranger

This Radio will also work in your truck

Now if its out of a mustang, it WILL NOT work. Mustangs had a factory amp under the passenger seat.

i had one of those in my 86 ranger and it worked fine, and it was out of a mustang

Yea right, unless your Ranger had a premium sound system with an amp then the mustang radio won't work

The top Radio is from a mustang, the bottom is from any other Ford (non premium radio)

Top Radio: The middle right plug is the low level audio plug, the top right plug is for an accessory, such as an add on CD Player

Bottom Radio: The right plug is the speaker plug

The left plug on both radios is the power plug

Many thanks for all the replies!!!

I found an AM/FM radio in a Windstar van (Unsure of the year). It "works" but the digital display is dead... eh! What I wonder about is the right side audio doesn't work. Could this be a result of a wrong radio or should I suspect some wiring/connector issue?
There was no radio when I bought the truck so I don't know if there were audio problems.

Still looking at units in the links y'all sent me. Thank You!!!

Amanda

I did forget, some (not all) Windstars and Aerostar vans had some weird radio configurations. What is the Ford part number on the side of the radio? I won't be able to look it up until Tuesday. I need to know, the back of your radio, does it match the top or bottom radio in my picture

The display problem, I cannot help you with. We need another radio.

In the mean time, check the right side speakers. make sure they work.

Still might wanna consider a cheap aftermarket.

The radio I have looks like your bottom picture. When I have the speaker connector hooked up, the very bottom connector on the radio is uncovered (not connected).
The only Ford part number I could see was a tiny one on the plastic molding between the connectors. I'll look again in the morning... the truck is downstairs.

I looked at aftermarket units, but thought back to the last one I put in a car... much Foster's, perspiring and swearing was involved! :annoyed:

Thank you! While the V6 has a nice sound, there isn't much variety! :D
