Well here goes.

I need honest opinions, as much as I may not like them.

As most of you know I am looking at buying a house. I currently own a F-250 which I owe 45 more payments on. The payments are $355.75 a month.

I was thinking of trying to sell it and just keep the B2 as my daily driver. It worries me a lot that as soon as I do that something will happen to the B2 and I will not have a ride to work until I fix it.

I traded in a 2001 Ranger when I bought my F-250 back in 2005. The Ranger I had was a Ext Cab XLT with the 4.0L SOHC and Automatic. It was like a Mustang. Was fast as heck and held the road like glue. I traded up because I always wanted a Super Duty. I am a truck nut, what can I say.

Other than moving our 29' camper a couple times and using it to tow stuck things I really don't use the F-250 for what it is intended for.

I am thinking about trading it in and finding a late model Ranger. In fact, I've found one that is a 2004 with 98K on it.

I think it should being my payments down to around $200 a month and my insurance will drop also, this was confirmed by my agent last week.

I really like this one.

Is that a lot of miles on a 2004? Should I look for one with lower miles? Am I being stupid in trading in one truck for another just to lower the payment??

I LOVE my Super Duty, but I think if I sacrafice it now, I can save money, not feel like an idiot for driving it to work and wasting a ton of gas I don't need to, and also when I get older and have more money I can buy the one I really want which is a Diesel.

There you have it, tell me what to do.

To me owning a home is more important than owning a truck. When I bought my first home I owned all of my vehicles(one was 12 years old-My 84 Ranger, the other was a 73 F-250). Get into the house make sure you can afford the payments, comfortably, and then go for your SD. If you don't really have a need for the SD and its going to hamper your chances of getting financed, I say dump it and wait a few years.....

By trading it in, you would not only save money on the payments and insurance, but also on gas.

Thats precisely the reason I am considering this. Plus it is not going to waste, someone can use it for what it was made for.

I've used it hard a few times, but not enough to warrant keeping it.

Besides, if I need to move our RV, I work at a RV dealer so I have access to two trucks that are plenty capable of towing it.

Well Buddy Since You Gave Me Advise,Ill Return The Favour
If I were in your shoes, as much as you love your super duty, i would trade it, the milage isnt the greatest, but could you just take it for a few days to try it out?
I think if you traded now you could make a big increase in your bank account. just me speaking..

No, I can still get the home loan with the SD. I've had it since 2005, so I was approved for a loan with them seeing it on my credit.

I am thinking about getting rid of it. Just want opinions as to if I should get another reliable DD (aka Ranger) or just get rid of the truck and hope the B2 holds up to me ne 35 mile a day commute when I move into the house (which I hope to get)

not to many miles, but quite a few for a 2004. It all depends on how well the previous ower maintained it, as you probably know. My 94 has 140k and still is in great shape, but I take really good care of it. With the way gas prices are going I would go with the ranger unless you are planning on doing some serious towing on a regular basis. thats just my 2 cents though.

I Wouldnt Look at it as "Dumping" it, it sounds to harsh for a beautiful truck, Ive always LOVED the super dutys and can guarntee you i WILL be having one

And may i also say that i wouldnt keep the B2 itself, to risky, depending on what shape its in..is it a clearly offroad rig or still mostly stock?

Naw, the B2 is a street queen. I've pretty much rebuilt it from the ground up. It gets about 22mpg in the summer which is great, I also know my old 4.0L ranger I got 20mpg in the summer. The F-250, averages 11-13mpg ANYTIME. But the motor is underpowered for such a huge piece of iron.

I plan on calling them about the Ranger tomorrow.

It was a one owner from mile 7 until they traded it.

well i would say go for the ranger, its a nice lookin truck indeed
