ok so me and a couple friends are thinking about buying a 300$ RBV, why you might ask? well we figure get one for a couple hundred bucks and part it. what big things could we make our cash off of?

my thoughts are

glass
axles
trans (if good)
motor(if good)
inteior
maybe some of the body parts

any ideas on what people would want? what RBV should we aim for? i was thinking a exploder

I found that doesn't work as well as one might think. I picked up a Ranger with a bad frame a couple years ago, figured I'd keep what I wanted and sell the rest... headlights, front bumper and rear axle were all that I managed to get rid of since then. I had kinda hoped that someone would want the front axle, it's only a D-28, but it's got 4.10 gears, but no luck.

I also got to strip out a Bronco II once and tried getting rid of the parts I didn't need. All I managed to sell was one back window glass and I had known someone that was looking for that before I even got to strip the truck.

Yeah I found unless people are looking for specific parts its almost impossible to get a profit turning parts. You would be better off buying a cheap couple hundred dollar non running rig that has a simple problem and fixing it up a bit and selling it for more... it took me 2 years to sell a transmission I pulled that I found out was the wrong one...

I got an f150 for free that didn't start and the person didn't want it, put a 50 dollar starter in it and sold it for 2800 bucks...

Here in CT The cat. batt., radiator and heatercore will bring you almost $100 at the scrap yard. If it has a set of messed up mags they will bring another $30. I pick up a chevy 1/2 ton last year for a $1 (yes 1 dollar) I ended up with almost $600 out of it. I junked 85% of it.
