Anyone but me think that the Canadians put on one hell of good show last night? Personally, I think it was the best opening I have seen. Tastefully designed and easy to watch. It gave you a welcoming sense of spirit without seeming over the top and boastful (China). Good Job Canuks. Good Job.

Bravo Vancouver! Probably the worst rendition of O Canada that I've ever heard but wonderful Opening Ceremony. Will be there in a few days and cannot wait to drink in the Olympic experience. Props to the good folks of Canada!

Hey not much. Poor guy. He didn't know what hit him. Shoulda watched the ceremonies! Actually enjoyed this years. They are usually weird or boring.

I would actually agree with that. The Canadian National Anthem is such a regal song, I wish they would just perform it as it was intended. Same goes for our National Anthem.

Opening was pretty cool - great vibe in Whistler today as the games got going! Is going to be a great 2 weeks! Can't wait for the hockey games

Did you guys notice the lip sync action with Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams?

She started the song, and when the duet portion started, he was still holding the mic next to his stomach, but you could clearly hear his voice. After a couple of words, he quickly pulled the mic next to his mouth and continued.

Look at the vid 26 seconds into it. He doesn't move his lips until a couple words in.

Lip syncing at a show like that is not a bad idea as it guarantees they get it right, it not a concert after all. The anthem was an abomination, they should have let rosanne barr sing it. The whole thing was about an hour too long and I think Gretsky got too much exposure. Other than that I think they put on a pretty good show. I won't mention the fire lighting thing that failed to work as planned.
