My credo
to prevent Found On the Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily
So , Saturday I went to check on the Rat. It had been 2 weeks since I drove it last. I go to start it. Nothing. Another insult for the poor cheapo Auto Zone battery. I didn't even bother with the meter. Dark was coming on quick. I ran out my cord and got the charger out. The battery was sucking the juice right of the charger and lighting the green light. Whatever. I'm cold, I had the cord on a ground fault so I wasnt too worried. I used the truck Sunday, no trouble. And I found the gremlin. The glove box wasn't latched and was open enough to trip the light. DOH. I wonder how many times I can bring the battery back to life. This is prolly the 4th time I've run the battery down.

i have to charge mine if i dont drive it for two days during the cold months so ur doin better than what i am lol. I don't have anything on, not even my alarm and it still goes dead, i can thank the crappy napa battery i got. Usually i get good batteries from them but 2 days after the warranty it crapped out and started doing this.

I had that glove box problem on my jeep but it never ran the battery down. What tipped me off was a corner of a map was burned brown, that could have been expensive. With my '07' Stang it went dead in three weeks. Was told to make sure the radio was off next time and that did the trick.

My autozone battery on my 99 Ranger is 6 years old and still in great shape. I bought it (upgraded to a heavy duty battery) to handle my winch (front and back winch mounts) and it has never left me stranded. It has been the best battery I have ever bought. I had a Sears battery before on my 06 Jeep that lasted for about 5 years but it was getting a bit weak at 5 years and I had to use a trickle charger twice a week on the battery to maintain it. I bought an Autozone battery to replace it when it got a bit weaker. I hope I don't have any issues with it. I have a few buddies who have AutoZone batteries and they never had an issue....unless they left an overhead light on....lol

install a battery cut-off switch...just have to remember to use it...keeps thieves at bay, too.

The first winter I had my Mustang I left the ventilation switch on. It took less than a month to kill the battery. What I found was that even with the ingnition off the ventilation system sucks power. My battery lasted for another 10 years after that. I do hook it up to a battery minder for winter. But even the truck has it's original battery and it's from 02. I think it has to do with the way I shut everthing off before I shut the truck or car off. I even unlock the door before I turn off the ignition.
