I have been searching but,
I'm still not sure what drive shaft I should be looking for.
I have a 1986 ranger Supercab 125 wb, 2.9, a4ld, 2wd, 7.5 rear axle.
I have the vibration and have worn out one replacement carrier bearing.
I want to do the One-Piece Rear Drive shaft Swap.
I am thinking 1998 aluminum?
Will it matter if the transmission is auto or stick?
4wd or 2wd?
Any one that has done it on their Ranger specked out like mine?

you need a drive shaft from a 98 plus ex cab 2wd truck shouldnt matter if its auto or manual

HELP!!!

I found a Drive shaft F87A-4602-PB Ranger 1998-2000 4x2 126" WB Auto trans

Went to another junk yard to get the rear axle flange to match the drive shaft

I got 2 they match the drive shaft but the inner splines are to big for my 7.5 pinion gear

Got one flange off an Explorer and the other off a 150...they are the same.

Anyone?

no because those are 8.8 rears you need one off a 7.5 under a newer ranger

Yea I was checking for parts around town, thinking about it they were 8.8 I'll try finding it off a 7.5
Some where in my mind I thought they would be the same...wrong

Took some searching local yards but,
I found a 1994 Aerostar 4wd, and the rear axle flange worked.
They are all 7.5 I think.
Hate changing flanges ... messes up pinion preload

I'll take a nice test ride tomorrow.

I'll just have to find another flange and get rebuilding my backup 7.5 LS.
new axle bearings, seals, clutches, ... and Pinion preload spacers...no more crush sleeves for me.

Feel feel to pick any info out of this thread for the tech library

I have a 1991 super cab, 3.0 v6, 5speed, 2wd, not lifted. What would I have to do differently to take advantage of installing a one piece... Ive gone through two bearings and my u-joints are going out... tried to talk to someone at ford who supposedly has a love for rangers as I do but he said that installing a one piece would mess up the pinion angle and would make it vibrate and wouldn't work... someone please help

^^ he is wrong again you need the same thing as above

Ok do I need just the drive shaft from another ranger or is there anything I need to change in order for it to work right?

98 plus ex cab 2wd is what you need nothing else will bolt in

ok and do I have to swap any u-joints or anything on the one piece shaft in that aspect is what I meant?

not if you find one with a truck with a 7.5 rear

would you happen to know which is which? or how I can measure, Ill be making a trip to the u pull and pay tomorrow
