Last wire that isn't hooked up, Which I believe it never was, is a black wire with a diode on it and at the end is a square grey connector and it goes across the engine towards the wiring harness cluster on the drivers side. Can someone tell me what that is? I believe it says p30 or p40 on the diode.

Thanks Again!

I wish I could post pics on here ill snap a picture of it... I traced the line back and its in the same harness as the AC wires and its a BLACK w/ Green stripe on one side of the diode then on the other its all black w/ the grey connector. where this attatches in the harness its connected (crimped) to I Believe 3 other wires. this is the ONLY wire that comes out of the harness and is by its self.. Does this help?? :)

I found this reference at another ranger forum.

Google: ford ranger black green stripe wire

Click on "86 ranger mystery wire"

Not sure, you make a reference to P30 or P40 and Diode

Does it say DIODE on it, or could it be something else.

Possibly to prevent power going to AC via the fan producing a small amount of voltage after powering off. Just guessing here but the AC is designed to power on the cooling fan when the clutch is engaged. Once power is cut to the fan it becomes a small generator for just a split second as it winds down. Possible this is a ground for the AC circuit that triggers the fan?

Unless you experience problems I'd bypass it and not worry to much if everything works.

I can’t help on the actual connector but grounds have diodes to prevent feedback as stated above, not uncommon in the ground switching circuit.
