I workin a deal on an EB axle, I believe its 74 model, still has drum brakes. My question is what is the difference from the year knuckles I can use 78-79 FS bronco and F150 vs mid to late 80's F150 knuckles?? Why can't TTB knuckles be used?? I read the tech arcticles, but none explained the differences between them and what if any mod would be needed to make em fit:icon_confused:

i am not sure if the ttb nuckles can be used... but from my experieince, i just finished my swap and used the full bronco knuckles rotors and brake asssemblies and the braking due to the larger bronco brakes is phenomenal! full size bronco 1/2 ton brakes compared to a little ranger brakes! if noticed a huge difference in stopping power and its worth it to use the bronco knuckles and brake assmeemblies

I can' confirm for sure, but I was told that the spacing between the balljoints was different on the TTB knuckles vs. the SAS ones.

sai and knuckle spacing.

ttb is too big.

what about other year SAK's like 85 or 86??

use dodge or gm...is that what your asking?

I believe they have to be from a solid axle d44. I got a set from a dodge with the small bolt pattern an flat top knuckles if you are interested.

That was not my observation at all when I put the D44 into my Ranger, pedal effort was mostly unaffected (infact I seem to recall it INCREASED ever so slightly). However the bigger brakes will certainly be less prone to overheating, which is what leads to brake fade and/or warped rotors.

Yes, knuckles for a solid axle D44 have to come from a solid axle. ('85, '86 F-150s were TTB)

With these knuckles, can the larger(upgraded) axles fit inside the smaller spindles?? How much are you wanting for them?? Thanks

Okay, I got a buddy who has a couple of scouts for parts, can I use the scout knuckles on an EB 44?? I know I would have a 6 lug pattern if I use the scout's spindles, I plan on using F150 spindles and rotors, but can I still use the scout knuckles and ford spindles/rotors?? Any chance if any one knows if the axle shafts are the same length??

Any Solid axle D44 knuckles will fit that axle. You just have to use complete outers. Im not sure on the scout stuff, but I have chevy knuckles with chevy small bearing spindles, Ford wheel bearings and hub assembly so I could run 5x5.5 pattern. Remember though if you swap to other outers you need to run the stub shaft from them and it wouldnt have the same size U joint as your axle currently has and you would have to upgrade the inner axles to match it. (Im almost positive the EBd44 used the smaller U joints.)

IIRC, Scout knuckles have extremely long steering arms. You won't get much turning radius with those.

Thanks guys, I guess I'm still hunting for some then...
